Funny Computer Jokes

  • To err is human, but to foul things up requires a computer. Farmers’ Almanac

Let’s get started with our computer jokes!

Computer Not Working?

  • Normal people believe that if it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it.
  • Programmers believe that if it isn’t broken, then it doesn’t have enough features.

Computing – A Different Language

Let us start our computer jokes with a simple, yet funny story.

George landed his first computer programming position and he was thrilled. His father, Colin, although a stranger to the field, shared George’s
enthusiasm and welcomed him at the door when he arrived home after his first day, inquiring, ‘What did you do at work today?’ He listened intently while George detailed his eight hours of COBOL, binary code, and JCL errors.

When George arrived home the following night, his father, Colin, was again waiting at the front door.’ So, ‘he greeted George, ‘what did you
have for lunch today?’

True Computer Tech Support Calls

Some computer jokes are about communicating with tech support.

1. Tech support: Are you sure you used the right password? Customer: Yes, I’m sure. I saw my colleague do it.

Tech support: Can you tell me what the password was? Customer: Five stars.  Customer: I have a huge problem. A friend has placed a screen saver on my computer, but every time I move the mouse, it disappears.

2. Tech Support: ‘OK, in the bottom left of the screen, can you see the ‘OK’ button displayed?’ Customer: ‘Wow. How can you see my screen from there?’

3. Advisor: You have Spyware on your machine which is causing the problem. Customer: Spyware? Can they see me getting dressed through the monitor?

Birth of the Internet

Not surprisingly, computer jokes often touch the subject on the internet.

Will and Guy have been sent these computer jokes by a reader of the site and we would like to share it with you.

A Funny Story of How the Internet Began

Computer Dummy Cartoon

In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dot. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she was often called Amazon Dot Com.

And she said unto Abraham, her husband, “Why dost thou travel so far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without ever leaving thy tent?” And Abraham did look at her – as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load – but simply said, “How, dear?”

And Dot replied, “I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale, and they will reply telling you who hath the best price. The sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah’s Pony Stable (UPS).”

Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. The drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever having to move from his tent. To prevent neighboring countries from overhearing what the drums were saying, Dot devised a system that only she and the drummers knew. It was called Must Send Drum Over Sound (MSDOS), and she also developed a language to transmit ideas and pictures: Hebrew To The People (HTTP).

But this success did arouse envy. A man named Maccabia secreted himself inside Abraham’s drum and began to siphon off some of Abraham’s business. But he was soon discovered, arrested, and prosecuted for insider trading. And the young men did take to Dot Com’s trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Sybarites, or NERDS.

And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to that enterprising drum dealer, Brother William of Gates, who bought off every drum maker in the land. And he did insist on drums to be made that would work only with Brother Gates’ drum heads and drumsticks.

Lo, Dot did say, “Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others!” And as Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel, or eBay as it came to be known, he said, “We need a name that reflects what we are.” And Dot replied, “Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators.” “YAHOO,” said Abraham. And because it was Dot’s idea, they named it YAHOO Dot Com.

Abraham’s cousin, Joshua, being the young Gregarious Energetic Educated Kid (GEEK) that he was, soon started using Dot’s drums to locate things around the countryside. It soon became known as God’s Own Official Guide to Locating Everything (GOOGLE).

And that is how it all began.

‘There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home.’ Ken Olsen. Head of the Digital Equipment Company now part of Compaq in 1977.

Bad Day At The Office – Toner

Computer jokes are especially common in offices.

We have all had bad days at the office.  The printer toner gives Guy the yipps, if you check out this video clip, then it appears I am not alone.

Printer Problems

In this section, we will continue telling you some computer jokes from offices.

When the office printer’s type began to grow faint, the office manager called a local repair shop. “Our office printer isn’t working right,” he said. “The print is growing so faint it’s almost unreadable.”

“It probably just needs a cleaning,” the friendly repairman said. “We charge $50.00, but it’s not hard to do. You could probably do it yourself just by reading the printer’s manual.”

“Wow!” the office manager exclaimed, pleasantly surprised by the repairman’s candor. “Thank you!” He asked, “Does your boss know you discourage business?”

“It’s my boss’s idea,” the repairman replied. “We usually make more money on repairs if we encourage customers to try fixing things
themselves first!”

Computer Animations and disaster horror stories

After discussing some of the best computer jokes, now let’s move on horror stories, starting with computer jokes on animations:

1. Computer Animations

Penguin fix computer gif

Some days just start badly.  Perhaps a gentle tap will help? Then things get worse when you call in the expert. After that, a real computer disaster strikes.

2. The Boss from Hell

Server on fire gif

The boss bought a box of tapes and showed the timid assistant how to insert the first tape into the DAT drive.  On Monday, the backup worked perfectly.  However, on Tuesday the operator could not remove the cassette.  So, being timid, but resourceful, they unscrewed the Tippex
bottle painted out Monday’s date, and over-wrote with Tuesday’s date.  Guess what happened when the boss needed to restore last week’s data?  All that was on the tape was yesterday’s incremental backup.  When he looked in the box 23 tapes were still in their cellophane wrappers. The restore did a perfect job on the incremental tape, but it was a management problem that was responsible for the lack of a normal backup tape.

4. The ‘Rambo’ operator

Do you find that when you have an audience and you tell a good yarn, someone comes back with another twist on your story?  Well, following the above case, someone told me a tale about the ‘Rambo’ operator.

The Rambo operator is the complete opposite of the timid operator, so when the tape refused to eject, Rambo rolled up his sleeves and yanked out the tape, along with the tape drive unit, half the panel, and the floppy drive.  Well, at least with a Rambo operator you soon know when you have a problem.

10 Laws of Computing

  • The next part of our computer jokes is the list of ten computer commandments to pin to your wall, if you have any extra laws of computing then do let us know.

10 Laws of Computing

  1. If you have reached the point where you understand your computer, it’s probably obsolete.
  2. When you are computing, if someone is watching, whatever happens, behave as though you meant it to happen.
  3. When the going gets tough, upgrade your computer.
  4. The first place to look for information is in the section of the manual where you’d least expect to find it.
  5. For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.
  6. To err is human… to blame your computer for your mistakes is even more human, it’s downright natural.
  7. He who laughs last probably has a backup.
  8. The number one cause of computer problems is computer solutions.
  9. A complex system that doesn’t work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine.
  10. A computer program will always do what you tell it to do, but rarely what you want it to do.

Hope you will find this section of computer jokes useful! We’re sure at least some of these one-liner computer jokes would amuse you.

Guy’s Alternative 10 Laws of Computing

But the 10 computer jokes above aren’t everything. Guy has developed his own list of computer jokes below:

  1. The more acronyms on a page, the harder the topic is to understand.
  2. Inside every program is a small module struggling to find a life of its own.
  3. Developeritus.  Developers get their programs working perfectly on their machines, but they forget that their potential customers may have very different computer environments.
  4. Computer project teams avoid monthly progress reporting because it demonstrates their lack of progress.
  5. Program complexity grows until it exceeds the abilities of the programmer who must maintain it.
  6. You will never solve any computer problem if you are in a bad mood.
  7. When troubleshooting computer problems, people always assume that the problem is the most obscure combination possible.  Whereas, in reality, the fault is invariably the simplest fault.
  8. Every computer program expands to fill all the available memory.
  9. If a computer supplier says a part is interchangeable, for example, tape drives – they lie.
  10. Remember that your computer makes as many mistakes in two pico seconds as fifty men working for years.

Will and Guy’s Law of Computing

The following law is indeed one of the best computer jokes:

  • Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to use the ‘Net and he won’t bother you for weeks.

Riley’s Rule of Software Demonstrations

angel jobs cartoon

The probability of failure of a software demonstration is directly proportional to the product the number of people attending and the importance of the demo. That’s why this image is a part of our computer jokes.

Corollary: demos to thousands of paying customers have a failure probability above 90%, even when, especially when, the demo worked perfectly half an hour before the presentation. (See recent product launches by Apple and Microsoft for instances when failure probability has approached 100%.)

Famous Computer Jokes and Quotes

The following computer jokes are written in a form of quotes:

  • ‘I think there is a world market for maybe five computers’ – Thomas Watson, IBM, 1943
  • ’32 bits ought to be enough address space’ – Vint Cerf, 1977 (While IPv4 has survived for 30 years, IPv6 is just around the corner)
  • ‘640K should be enough for anybody’ – Bill Gates, 1981

They Said I Couldn’t Break It

About a year ago, Jason, the company’s top computer engineer, was called out to make field service.  When he got to the lady’s house and was let in, the first thing he noticed was the smell of gunpowder.  The second thing he saw was the double-barreled 12-gauge shotgun lying across her lap.  And the third thing was the big gaping hole in her computer screen. Jason looked at her. She was a little grey-haired woman, around 60 or so. Had she? Not possible. Still, he had to ask… Jason: ‘Did you shoot…? Little Old Lady: ‘Yes, I got a little mad at the computer, the program would not load. Tech Support told me that I couldn’t hurt it, but I think they were wrong. Can you salvage anything?’

Malcolm’s ID 10 Service Call

Malcolm is one of the main character of our computer jokes.

Miriam was having trouble with her computer.  So Miriam called Malcolm the computer wiz-kid and asked him to come over and look at her computer. Malcolm clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

Malcolm gave Miriam a bill for a minimum service call.  As he was walking away, Miriam called after him, ‘So, what was wrong?’
He replied, ‘It was an ID ten T error.’ Miriam didn’t want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, ‘An, ID ten T error?  Malcolm, what does that error mean, just in case I need to fix it again?’

Malcolm grinned, ‘Haven’t you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?’

‘No,’ Miriam replied.

‘Write it down, ‘he said, ‘and Miriam thinks you’ll figure it out.’

So Miriam wrote down…… I D 1 0 T.

Ooops A Cautionary Tale of a UPS Disaster by Guy Thomas

I sometimes take on work on the basis of ‘no fix – no fee’.  So I went to a company advertising for a consultant to find the bottleneck on their network. To my delight, I got a contract.  However, when I turned up, there were long faces all around the server room that had been burnt down.

Before I abandoned the job, I thought at least they could tell me what had happened.  After a long pause, the junior techie blurted out that the UPS
spilled neat acid onto a pile of paper and the acid burnt the paper starting a fire. Cardboard boxes in the room also caught fire and that in turn burnt down the server.  Well no work for me, but a moral to one and all, add: ‘I must service the UPS’ to your disaster recovery plan.

Footnote: Will as ever, keeps me on track.  I should explain that a UPS is like a huge battery that attaches to servers, in the event of a power cut the UPS takes over the electrical supply to the computer.

Norman and Libby

Norman was in his front garden mowing his lawn, when his neighbor, Libby, came out of her house and went straight to the mailbox. She opened it, then slammed it shut and stormed back into the house.

Ten minutes later Libby came out of her house again, went to the mailbox, and again opened it and slammed it shut again. Angrily she stormed back into the house.

As Norman was putting his mower away, Libby came out once again.  She marched up to the mailbox, opened it, and then slammed it closed.

Puzzled by her distress Norman asked, ‘What’s wrong with your mailbox Libby?’

To which she replied, ‘It’s my stupid computer it keeps telling me, ‘New Mail has Arrived’.’

We finally finished reviewing computer jokes on pictures. Here’s the next part of our computer jokes below.

Computer Jokes About Computer Gender (Le or La computer?)

Male computer
Female computer

A language teacher called Thérèse was explaining to her class that in French nouns are labelled as either masculine or feminine.  This was news to the class, as in English, nouns have little or no concept of gender.  Thérèse explained, House, in French, is feminine — ‘la maison.’ ‘Pencil, in French, is masculine — ‘le crayon.’ One puzzled student asked please miss, ‘Which gender is a computer?’.

Thérèse did not know whether it was le computer or la computer, moreover, the word wasn’t in her French dictionary. So for fun, she split the class into two groups appropriately enough, by gender, and asked them to decide whether ‘computer’ should be a masculine or feminine noun.

Men’s Computer Gender Group – La computer

The men’s group decided that computers should definitely be female: la computer’ because:

  1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic.
  2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
  3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for possible later retrieval.
  4. As soon as you commit to one, you find yourself spending half your pay cheque (check) on accessories for it.

Women’s Computer Gender Group – Le computer

The women’s group, however, concluded that computers should be male: ‘le computer’.  Here is the ladies’ reasoning:

  1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on.
  2. They have a lot of data but still can’t think for themselves.
  3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem.
  4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you’d waited a little longer, you could have got a better model.

Who do you think won the gender argument? Should it be Le Computer or La Computer?

5 More Reasons Why Computers Must Be Female

  1. They are impossible to figure out.
  2. They break down for no apparent reason.
  3. They communicate only with each other, and in their particular language.
  4. They have motherboards inside them.
  5. Sometimes it’s difficult to find their on/off button.

Assorted Funny Computing Disasters

Bad Day for Dell – Laptop Bursts into Flames

Laptop on fire

What happened was in the middle of a trade show a Dell laptop burst into flames.  Geeks had claimed for years that their laptops caught fire but
nobody believed them – until that fateful trade show.  This was one of the biggest computer disasters of all time.

‘We have captured the notebook and have begun investigating the event,’ Dell spokeswoman Anne Camden reported at the time, and investigate Dell did. At the end of these investigations, the problem was traced to an issue with the battery/power supply on the individual laptop that had overheated and caught fire.

It cost a bomb for Dell to sort out.  Eventually, Dell decided to recall and replace 4 million laptop batteries.  Unfortunately, the exploding battery problem did not end there.  Apple reported dangerous overheating for iPods and Macbooks.   Sony who was the end manufacturer estimated that the overall cost of supporting the recall programs of Apple and Dell amounted to 200 million dollars.

Problems Are Not Confined to the Computer Hardware. What about the Users?

A woman customer called the Canon computer help desk with a problem with her printer.

Tech support: Are you running it under Windows?

Customer: ‘No, my desk is next to the door, but that is a good point.  The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window, and his printer is working fine.’

A Funny Story

Good command cartoon

Have you realized yet that computers are controlling more and more aspects of our lives? It is a genuine concern as this short story tells us.

For instance, if you’ve worked in a modern office building, you’ve probably come across a ventilation problem: if you get hot, you can’t just
open the window. You usually have to ask ‘building services’, often in a call center on the other side of the world, to turn up the air conditioning
via the building’s computer system.

However, there is a company in New Zealand that Will and Guy have been told might be rethinking their reliance on this type of computer control.

Mill St “Pak’n Save Supermarket” in Hamilton, New Zealand was supposed to be closed for Good Friday.

However, it seems that no one told the Computer in charge of controlling the shop, meaning that the doors were opened as normal on Friday morning and the lights turned on, but without any staff being at work.

Naturally, the stock didn’t stay on the shelves for long; but most of the “customers” didn’t go to the trouble of paying for it, although some did,
using the automated checkouts.

Will and Guy are beginning to think that maybe it’s time to rethink how much power we give to our Computers.

  • Your computer will ask you, ‘Are you sure you want to delete Housework permanently?’
  • Answer ‘Yes’ and click the left mouse button firmly.
  • Now you feel much better.

True Story From Computer Front-line Support

Back when I worked as a PC technician I had a client who gave us his computer to fix because it was riddled with malware. One of the standard
things we do is clean the cache, empty the recycle bin, and scan for and remove viruses.

When we gave him his computer back he freaked out on us demanding to know what we did with his most sensitive files. We told him we didn’t delete any personal files and he told us we did. Apparently, he kept his most important documents in the recycle bin?!

We tried to explain what the recycle bin was actually for and he just didn’t want to listen and didn’t care or know to care. That was his sensitive file folder.

When asked to define “great” he replied, ‘I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional
level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!’

He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages.

4. Secret

While my next-door neighbor, Ian, was tapping away on his home computer, his seven-year-old son, Nathan, sneaked up behind him.

Then Nathan turned and ran downstairs into the kitchen, bellowing to the rest of the family, ‘I know Daddy’s password! I know Daddy’s password!

”What is it?’ Mia, his elder sister asked gently but eagerly.

Proudly Nathan shouted, ‘It’s asterisk, asterisk, asterisk, asterisk, asterisk.’

5. Crucial

When he was at Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, Kevin took a part-time job as a computer technician dealing with most problems by
telephone. One day he received a call.

The caller told Kevin that her computer was not working. She described the problem and he concluded that the computer needed to be brought in and serviced.

Kevin told her to unplug the power cord and bring it to him in the office and he would fix it.

About fifteen minutes later she showed up at Kevin’s door with the power cord in her hand…

When I Was Young – A Funny Computer Poem

A computer was something on TV, From a science fiction show of note,
A window was something you hated to clean,
And ram was the cousin of a goat.

Meg was the name of my girlfriend And gig was a job for the nights,
Now they all mean different things,
And that really mega bytes.

An application was for employment, A program was a TV show,
A cursor used profanity,
A keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something that you lost with age, A CD was a bank account,
And if you had a 3-inch Floppy,
You hoped nobody found out.

Compress was something you did to the garbage, Not something you did to a file,
And if you unzipped anything in public,
You’d be in jail for a while.

Log on was adding wood to the fire, the Hard drive was a long trip on the road,
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived,
And a backup happened to your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife, Paste you did with glue,
A web was a spider’s home,
And a virus was the flu.

Drastic Fix for Computer Problem

shooting computer gif

A US man allegedly shot his wife’s computer after he caught her chatting to other men on MySpace. Jason Griffith, 23, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, was arrested on charges including reckless endangerment, terrorist threats and harassment.

Police allege he fired a single .40-calibre bullet into his wife’s computer tower after a 2 am argument in their bedroom, reports the Times-Tribune.  After returning home in the early hours, Mr Griffith allegedly became angry that his wife was chatting with men on MySpace.  Police say he dragged her upstairs, shot the computer, and fired another bullet into the floor.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Common Passwords

Here is the latest list of passwords chosen by people to protect their online accounts. However, it is still not that hard to guess.

The word “password” has been unseated as the most used – and therefore the worst – password. It has been displaced by the equally easy-to-hack “123456”, suggesting that millions of online accounts remain insecure.

The research, by the web security company SplashData, is compiled from files containing millions of stolen passwords that have been published
online, revealing those cracked most often by computer hackers in 2013.

Despite revelations that intelligence agencies use sophisticated techniques to snoop on internet users, the study suggests that many people
make it remarkably easy to access their internet accounts. According to the research, popular passwords include “qwerty”, “abc123” and “letmein”, as well as strings such as “111111” and “12345678”.

SplashData said that the annual list, which it has been compiling for the past decade was particularly influenced by a major security breach at
Adobe, the makers of Photoshop, last October. It emerged that almost two million of the 130 million people affected by the hacking appeared to be using the password “123456”.

“Seeing passwords like ‘adobe123’ and ‘photoshop’ on this list offers a good reminder not to base your password on the name of the website or
application you are accessing,” Morgan Slain, the chief executive of SplashData, said.

  1. 123456
  2. password
  3. 12345678
  4. qwerty
  5. abc123
  6. 123456789
  7. 111111
  8. 1234567
  9. iloveyou
  10. adobe123
  11. 123123
  12. admin
  13. 1234567890
  14. letmein
  15. photoshop
  16. 1234
  17. monkey
  18. shadow
  19. sunshine
  20. 12345

How to Choose Your Passwords

Experts suggest that users should adopt several different passwords, all of which should be made up of a random string of words, letters, or
numbers. According to Trustwave, which advises on tackling cybercrime, 30 percent of internet users re-use passwords across multiple
social networking accounts.

Free Computer Virus – 409 Takers

HELSINKI (Reuters) – Computer specialist Didier Stevens put up a simple text advertisement on the Internet offering downloads of a computer virus for people who did not have any.  Surprisingly, he found as many as 409 people clicking on the ad saying “Is your PC virus-free? Get it infected here!” during a 6-month advertising campaign on Google’s Adword, said the IT security expert.

“Some of them must have clicked on it by mistake. Some must have been curious or stupid,” said Mikko Hypponen, head of research at data security firm F-Secure.

There was no virus involved, it was an experiment aiming to show this kind of advertising system can be used for malicious intent, Stevens told Reuters.

Conficker Worm – A Real and Nasty Virus (Unfortunately, not a joke)

Security experts say that the Conficker worm is expected to activate once again on April 1, April Fool’s Day. This are some bad computer jokes for web security, as the virus has infected millions of machines worldwide and is now even stronger.

Cybercriminals designed the first two variants of the Conficker worm to spread worldwide. The third version, 32.Downadup. C, is expected to solidify its position, experts said.

If the third variation of the worm activates, it can connect infected computers allowing the zombie machines to receive updates.

The new version can defend itself from security bots as well, experts said. The worm will attempt to disable Windows Automatic Update and stop access to the Windows Security Center.

Urban Myth Alt Gr means Alternative Grave

Update and corrections supplied by Grant Semmens

I am Welsh.  Our language, Cymraeg, has the occasional hat on top of a letter, for example, my sister is called Siân.  Now English is one
of the few European languages without graves or accents, so England is likely where the urban myth that Alt Gr means Alternative Grave originated.  As Celts, we Welsh are aware that our continental cousins use these extra letters, for example, á or é or ó.  My point is that if you need an accented vowel, then either, you need to add letters from the Symbols font – cumbersome, or remember that alt 144 means é.  Note this time I mean the left, plain, Alt key and not the right Alt Gr (Confusing isn’t it!)

From my cousins across the pond in America, I hear that Spanish is big in some neighborhoods so presumably Spanish Americans occasionally employ accented letters.

So in a nutshell, the Alternative Grave myth is wrong.  To prove it, go to the keyboard, hold down the right-hand Alt Gr, and type a vowel.  Result á é ì ó .  These characters are the acute form of the letter. The grave has the accent sloping the other way è .

Alt is indeed an abbreviation of Alternatively, however, ‘Gr’ may well stand for Graphics in the sense of special characters such as á é.  Grant has convinced me that Gr has nothing to do with the grave as that accent slopes the other way. Funnily enough, Alt Gr only appears on English, and English keyboards, and seems absent on American English keyboards.

Further Research

If you are interested in Diacritics, as these strange symbols are called, navigate this path: Start, Programs,  Accessories, System Tools has a Character map.  Well worth a visit should you wish to check the precise alt + number value of any symbol, not just the graves.  For example â
is alt + 0226 (Num Lock On, and press the numeric keyboard value).

The Horror of ‘ Keyboard Error 401’ – True Story by Guy Thomas

One day I was running a training course for a Technical support outsourcing company.  At break one of the delegates was on the phone and I could not help overhearing, ‘What’s the fault again – ‘Keyboard error 401 oh dear…’, I whispered, tell them to plug the keyboard back in.  He put his hand over the phone and said to me, ‘Shhh, we can get a nice little earner out of this’. Then he said to his customer, ‘Right we will send an engineer around this afternoon’. Well, I was horrified.

With me it’s often the reverse; I am forever giving free advice. For instance, I tell them not to install more domains, so they do not need to spend out on a kit for backup domain controllers.  I always look for cost-nothing solutions such as load balancing.  For example, rather than having a domain controller do everything, move tasks to the under-worked member server.

computer Jokes About husband software

Here is an exchange of letters between Susan and Tech Support regarding various ‘Computer Husband’ and ‘Boyfriend’ software. These are some of Will and Guy’s favorite computer jokes.

Boyfriend v Computer Husband Software

Bride and Groom

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0.  What I have noticed is a slowdown in the performance of the flower and jewelry applications, which had operated flawlessly under the Boyfriend 5.0 system.  In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.9, but installed undesirable programs such as Sport 7.3, NFL 3.2, and Tennis 4.1.  Conversation 8.0 also no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I’ve tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems but to no avail. What can I do?

Yours faithfully

Desperate Susan

Reply from Tech Support

Dear Desperate Susan,

First, keep in mind that Boyfriend 5.0 was an entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter the command C:/I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and install Tears 6.2.  Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications: Guilt 3.3 and Flowers 7.5.  But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to such background applications as Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1. Please remember that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will create Snoring Loudly.WAV files.

Angel cartoon

DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. It could also potentially cause Husband 1.0 to default to the program: Girlfriend 9.2, which runs in the background and has been known to introduce viruses into the Operating System.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a limited memory and can’t learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to enhance his system performance.  I recommend Home Cooking 3.0 and Single Malt Scotch 4.5.  Finally, consider applications such as Lingerie 6.9 (which has been credited with improved performance of his hardware).

Good Luck

Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, ‘Mister manager, I am ready’

The manager said, ‘Go ahead.’ Mujibar said, ‘The telephone goes green, green, and I pink it up, and say, ‘Yellow, this is Mujibar.’

You Are Never Too Old to Learn

My grandfather has recently started a course called ‘ Computers for the Terrified.’ He’s nearly eighty and, although used to be an engineer within the British Royal Airforce, he is completely stuck when it comes to computers.

He came back from his first evening at this course. When asked how it had gone, he replied, ‘Yes, it was really good. I really enjoyed it, but I really couldn’t get to grips with my mole.’

I stopped for a second, completely puzzled until I realized he was talking about the mouse.

Windows Joke

  • Customer: How much does Windows 8 cost?
  • Tech Support: Windows costs about $300.
  • Customer: Oh, that’s kind of expensive. Can I buy just one window?

Windows 8 Store

I drove to the new Microsoft store at Yorkdale in Toronto yesterday. Nice looking like store, all out in the open in the center of the mall, solid glass
front from floor to ceiling. I could not find the door to get in, yet there were lots of Microtechies inside all gesturing silently for me to come in. But not one of them gave me a hint of how.

I went home and read the Windows 8 website. Turns out I was supposed to select any one corner of the store and hover at least 2 inches up for 2
seconds and the glass panel slid upwards. Hey Bill, nice move! [Kindly sent in by Bob Lepp]

A Fun Story: Windows 8 Engineer Has A Good Idea

There are three engineers in a car; an electrical engineer, a chemical engineer and a Microsoft engineer.

Suddenly the car just stops by the side of the road, and the three engineers look at each other wondering what could be wrong.

The electrical engineer suggests stripping down the electronics of the car and trying to trace where a fault might have occurred. The chemical
engineer, not knowing much about cars, suggests that maybe the fuel is becoming emulsified and getting blocked somewhere.

Then, the Microsoft engineer, not knowing much about anything, comes up with a suggestion, ‘Why don’t we close all the windows, get out, get back in, open the windows again, and maybe it’ll work.’

Replacement Windows – An Alternative Funny Story

Last year I replaced 8 windows in my house with that expensive double-pane energy-efficient kind, and today, I got a call from the
contractor who installed them. He was complaining that the work had been completed a whole year ago and I still hadn’t paid for them.

Hellloooo,………..just because I’m blonde doesn’t mean that I am automatically stupid. So, I told him just what his fast-talking sales guy
had told me last year, that in ONE YEAR these windows would pay for themselves! Helllooooo? It’s been a year! I told him.

There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally just hung up. He never
called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.

Television -v- Windows 8

Television is better than Windows 8. Who would have thought it? But it’s true! Check this out! Here are the Top Ten Reasons why Television is Better than Windows 8

  1. It doesn’t take minutes to build the picture when you change TV channels.
  2. When was the last time you tuned in to “American Idol” and got an “Error 404” message?
  3. There are fewer grating color schemes on TV, even on MTV.
  4. You can go channel-surfing on the TV as much as you want and it will never get viruses.
  5. A remote control has fewer buttons than a keyboard.
  6.  Even the worst TV shows never excuse themselves with a “Blue Screen” sign.
  7. “Law and Order” never slows down when a lot of people tune in.
  8. You just can’t find those cool “Hits of the 80s” infomercials on Windows 8.
  9. Set-top boxes don’t beep and whine when you hook up to HBO.
  10. You can’t surf the Web from a couch with a beer in one hand and Doritos in the other.

So happy channel surfing!
