As usual, in the USA Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November, this year that would be the 26th (and not the 19th).
- 2007 – Thursday, November 22nd
- 2008 – Thursday, November 27th
- 2009 – Thursday, November 26th
- 2010 – Thursday, November 25th
- 2011 – Thursday, November 24th
There are three themes to Thanksgiving Day traditions, the family turkey meal, parading and giving thanks. Sarah Hale, a magazine editor, campaigned tirelessly for a national Thanksgiving day. Hale wrote in Godey’s Lady’s Book, eventually Sarah’s idea caught the president’s eye and in 1863, President Lincoln proclaimed the idea of November Thanksgiving, to be precise, that last Thursday in November would be a national day of Thanksgiving. In 2008, Thanksgiving day falls on November 27th, in 2009 it will be on November 26th.
