Top Ten Funny Electrical
'Shorts'
- What is the definition of a shock absorber?
A careless
electrician. - Do you know how an electrician tells if he's working
with AC or DC power? If it's AC, his teeth chatter when he grabs the
conductors. If it's DC, they just clamp together. - What did the light bulb say to the generator?
I really
get a charge out of you. - What Thomas Edison's mother might have said to her son:
Of course I'm proud that you invented the electric light bulb.
Now turn
it off and get to bed. - Sign on the side of the electrician's van: Let Us Get
Rid of Your Shorts. - Two atoms were walking down the street one day, when
one of them exclaimed, 'Oh no - I've lost an electron!'
'Are you
sure?' the other one asked.
'Yes,' replied the first one, 'I'm
positive.' - Why are electricians always up to date?
Because they
are "current" specialists. - What would you call a power failure?
A current event. - Did you hear about the silly gardener?
He
planted a light bulb and thought he would get a power plant. - How do you pick out a dead battery from a pile of good
ones?
It's got no spark.
If At First You Don't Succeed....
An Electrical Joke
A chemist, a biologist and an electrical engineer were on death row
waiting to go in the electric chair.
The chemist was brought forward first. 'Do you have anything you want to
say?' asked the executioner, strapping him in.
'No,' replied the chemist. The executioner flicked the switch and nothing
happened. Under this particular State's law, if an execution attempt fails,
the prisoner is to be released, so the chemist was released.
Then the
biologist was brought forward. 'Do you have anything you want to say?'
'No, just get on with it.' The executioner flicked the switch, and again
nothing happened, so the biologist was released.
Then the electrical engineer was brought forward. 'Do you have anything
you want to say?' asked the executioner.
'Yes,' replied the engineer. 'If you swap the red and the blue wires
over, you might make this thing work.'
Funny Electrical Safety
Cartoon
Two
workmen were digging foundations when one of them started shouting and
jumping about. The other one thought his partner had hit an underground
power cable and was being electrocuted so following good health and safety
practice used a shovel to separate him from the electricity.
Luckily for the
first worker he wasn't getting an electric shock but was panicking after a
wasp had flown up his trousers. Fortunately he didn't get stung, but the second
worker hit him so hard with the shovel that his shoulder was dislocated.

Terrifying Electrics

In the 1980's Will and family lived for a while in Yucatán, Mexico, and
it was there that he learned something about the importance of electrical
safety.
Between the months of April and September it rained. Not just showers or
drizzle but tropical rainfall, in torrents, which would last for up to two
hours every day and because Mérida had no proper drainage the city and
environs would be flooded.
Many homes had bare electrical wires showing both inside and out and the
rain would cause power cuts and short circuits - every afternoon.
Amazing, frightening and dangerous. These electric photos remind Will of that time
and although they may produce a smile or a wry laugh they also could have
serious consequences.

A Funny and Shocking Safety
Story
Mike was a farmer being attended to by a junior doctor at a casualty
department for a broken wrist when was asked the standard question, 'How did
you get the injury?'
Mike replied that he would tell the truth but that the doc would not
believe it.
Finishing
some work in the cow shed Mike had walked back over the yard towards his
house when he noticed a stone in his boot. Just as he bent down to get the
stone out, it started to rain heavily. He hopped into the nearest doorway
and continued to shake his foot to move the stone.
Johnnie, his farmhand was walking into the yard at that moment and saw
Mike with one hand resting on the electrical terminal box twitching his leg
like a mad man. It looked like his boss was being electrocuted so he grabbed
a lump of wood and following best safety practices "broke contact" by
whacking the Mike's hand away from the electrical source.
Johnnie's next job was to drive Mike, his boss, to the hospital.
